Important Events of Modern Assam during 1901-2021

• Asia’s first Oil Refinery Was established in Digboi, Assam in the year 1901.
• The first Government College in Assam, the Cotton College was established on 27th May, 1901.
• Lord Curzon Formed the first University Education Commission in Assam in the year 1902.
• Assam Association was formed in the year 1903 and which was the first political organization in Assam. (Manik Chandra Baruah was the first secretary of Assam Association).
• Dibrugarh and Chittaranjan railway line was connected in the year 1904 . (The first railway line was opened in Assam in between Dibrugarh to Margherita in 1881 by Assam Railways and Trading Company).
• The Swadeshi Movement in Assam was led by Ambikagiri Raychoudhury in the year 1905 .
• Muslim League was formed in Assam by Abdul Matin Choudhury in the year 1906.
• In the year 1908 Kaziranga announced as protected area by Lord Curzon.
